When their chihuahua got stuffed they were really chuffed, no need to feed her or walkies on a lead her no more poop to scoop and doesn't she look smashing on the mantle piece? She'll always look at the camera now. I don't know why we bothered having her alive at all.
Poetry could be described as being an expression of art. Language is used to express complex feelings and emotions.Through words a poet can conjure up imagery to impress and beguile their readers. Successful poetry brings the senses to life.
There are many different styles of poetry, the ones that we will be looking at are as follows:
*Acrostic *Haiku *Tongue Twisters *Rhyming *Shape or lyrics.
Acrostic:
Contagious as it spins round and round
Abiding charm from the detail that is so special Riding around until you are dizzy Oblivious to all that is going on around you Underlying feeling of sickness may occur Smiling broadly then an insect sticks to your teeth Excitement of seeing the horses Lasting memories from when you were a child
Haiku: A Haiku poem is an unrhymed Japanese verse consisting of 3 lines total. The first line has 5 syllables the second line has 7 and the final line has 5 syllables. This type of poem is written in the present tense and the subject typically deals with nature and the seasons, but it is not limited to these topics.
The Monsoon Wrath of the monsoon lightning displays with heavy winds here fast, gone faster
Tongue Twister:
Tongue twisters are made up of lines that are hard to say fast. They do not need to make sense but most do.
She sells sea shells by the sea shore.
Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers, If Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers, where are the pickles Peter Pipper picked?
Fuzzy Wuzzy was a bear, Fuzzy Wuzzy had no hair, So Fuzzy Wuzzy wasn't Fuzzy was he?
Rhyming Poem:
Usually the second and fourth lines rhyme.
Summer Healing summer heat That comforts every bone Juicy summer fruits A frosty ice-cream cone
Shape Poems
Shape poems need to be written in the shape of the subject they are about. "Shape poems flourished in the 1950s and 60s. They were also known as concrete poems around this time period. These poems combine the art movements of Surrealism and Dada. They escape the limitations of traditional verse and bring fresh vitality to the metagraphic logic of organization that most texts follow today. They are not only a verbal creation; shape poems are meant to read and seen".
Lyrics
A paragraph about a feeling you have about a certain topic that is close to you. It does not need to rhyme but it does need to display emotion.
DAD - Dad, you are like the sun to me, a sure thing, always there, beaming light and warmth in my life. Whatever is good in me today, I owe to your wisdom, your patience, your strength, your love. You taught me by example, as a role model, to be my own person, to be myself, instructing me, without controlling me.

no need to feed her
or walkies on a lead her
no more poop to scoop
and doesn't she look smashing on the mantle piece?
